It’s a free celebration of Arvada’s extensive trails system, the natural environment, and Arvada’s eco-fair, and it coincides with National Trails Day.
Enjoy this outing with your family or a friend, or make a new friend as you walk or bike the trails and participate in many of the fun activities at this festival presented by the Arvada Festivals Commission, Majestic View Nature Center, Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge and Arvada Parks Advisory Committee. The two venues emphasize conservation and sustainability values and educate visitors to help the environment stay healthy.
“This free day of learning and moving is always enjoyable for families and individuals in the community“, says event organizer, Dave Olson. “Everyone enjoys this summer day”. Last year over 1,000 enthusiastic participants enjoyed celebrating Arvada’s 125 miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails which are among the best in the region.Over fourty exhibitors and entertainers will join the festival this year.
Featured activities include a bicycle ride (last year 85 recreational bike riders on this ride), a guided walk, two Center dedications, wildlife and resource conservation exhibits, a gathering of eco-sustainable vendors, .free food, kids entertainment, free food and more.
Families and individuals of all ages can enjoy:
A 5K trail walk with a park naturalist along historic canal trails connecting Two Ponds and Majestic View . Meet at Two Ponds (on 80th Avenue just east of Kipling) at 10:00 AM for a 10:30 AM departure (55 hikers participated last year) ;
A 20-mile recreational bicycle ride along Ralston, Little Dry Creek, Spring Mesa, and Five Parks Village trails. The ride includes an expert guide and sweep, map, snack and lunch stop, and a couple of well-placed changes in elevation. Helmets are required. Meet the Denver Bicycle Touring Club at Majestic View Park parking lot on W.72nd Ave at 8:45 AM for a 9:00 AM departure (last year 85 recreational bike riders enjoyed this ride);
Free hot dogs cooked and served by members of the Arvada Fire Protection District;
Safe and secure bicycle parking to encourage biking;
Free shuttle service between Majestic View Center and Two Ponds.
