The Omnibus Public Land Management Act
For several years, American Hiking Society has worked with members, the Conservation System Alliance, and Leadership in the House and Senate to pass the Omnibus Pubic Land Management Act. On 3/30/09 this Act was signed into law by President Obama - designating more than 2.1 million acres of Wilderness, and 6 new additions to the National Trails System, and the 26 million acre National Landscape Conservation System. American Hiking Society looks forward to working with partners to steward and maintain ALL the great lands recognized and designated by this Act!

National Trails Fund
Does your trail group maintain or establish trails on BLM lands? American Hiking Society manages the National Trails Fund, the only nonprofit hiking trail grants program in America. Last year we distributed more than $40,000 to trail-related organizations who accomplished critical projects with these resources.
