Job Posting- Friends of VINP, Volunteer Field Coordinator

The Friends of Virgin islands National Park seeks a well-qualified Volunteer Field Coordinator (VTC).  The VTC has overall responsibility to plan and implement “walk-up” and service group volunteer trail improvement projects within Virgin Islands National Park.  The VFC coordinates projects, organizes group stays, oversees field work, maintains tools, and oversees the use of the volunteer base camp.

Successful candidates will have extensive trail repair and maintenance experience, volunteer management or coordination experience, wilderness first aid certification and a valid driver’s license.  Ideally the candidate will also have highline or slack line operation experience, and herbicide application experience and certification. We seek a personable, well-organized individual with strong interpersonal skills, who is a self-starter and can work with limited direction.

This is a temporary seasonal position for the period October 15, 2015 – April 30, 2016.

The salary for this position is $2,300/month.  We may assist with travel costs and provide campground accommodation, as necessary.  There are no other benefits provided. The FTC must have his/her own medical insurance.
