

Hiking trails and the experience they give us wouldn't exist without
the tireless work of people and organizations that go the extra mile to
help establish, protect and maintain footpaths. American Hiking Society honors just a small handful of the thousands of dedicated "trail folk" through the American Hiking Society Awards.
AHS Business Partner Award
Recognizes companies that have supported trail development and improvement, nationally or locally. May be awarded annually.
AHS Trail Achievement Award
Recognizes one or more trail clubs or organizations for their work to complete a trail project or for success in a trail protection initiative. Awarded annually.
The Butch Henley Award
Recognizes an outstanding career or achievement of staff of a nonprofit hiking organization. May be awarded annually.
Certificate of Appreciation
Richard Douthit Public Service Award
Recognizes exemplary service by an employee of a trail managing agency in the field. Awarded annually.
Jim Kern Award
Honors outstanding service and commitment to American Hiking Society and its goals. Awarded annually.
Public Service National Leadership Award
Recognizes public officials at the national level who have demonstrated special interest in trails.
Glenn T. Seaborg National Public Leadership Award
Honors prominent citizens who have been effective national advocates for the development and improvement of hiking trails. May be awarded annually.
Bill Wilcox Award
Recognizes a young adult (up to 30 years old) whose volunteer work has resulted in the design, construction, or improvement of a new trail. Awarded annually.
