Most projects are scheduled Sunday through Saturday, with weekends allowing time for travel. While two-week trips can be accommodated,American Hiking recommends scheduling multiple trips instead of longer trips. Trips longer than 7-10 are not encouraged.Historically, the bulk of vacations are scheduled in the summer, however you can schedule your vacation any time during 2007.Often, land managers in hotter climates will schedule their trips before April or after September to avoid the stifling summer heat. If your agency is able to provide a pick-up at an airport, please plan this pick-up for mid- to late- afternoon on project's beginning date. You should plan drop-off on project's end date by noon if possible. If your crew will be backpacking into base camp please keep this in mind when planning your arrival and departure dates so as to maximize work time for your project.
