  Julia Braun, Administrative Assistant
Julia joined the staff in the spring of 2007 as an administrative assistant. She is proud to have been a seasonal park ranger at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis where her love of the outdoors and conservation was further cultivated. Growing up in southern Maryland, she went on cross-camping trips with her family and grew to love bird watching and the outdoors.Email: JBraun@AmericanHiking.org
  Margie Cohen, Director of Development
Margie joined the organization in 2006 to support American Hiking's corporate sponsors, donors, and foundations. Margie earned her BA from Tufts University and an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. She has over 20 years of business experience including ten years as a management consultant. She also started and operated an outdoor outfitting business because of her commitment to the environment and desire to help connect people with nature.Email: MCohen@AmericanHiking.org
  Andrea Ketchmark, Volunteer Programs Manager
In 2005, Andrea joined American Hiking as the Trail Programs Intern. Andrea now manages Volunteer Vacations and Volunteer of the Year. Andrea received her BS in Natural Resource Recreation and Tourism from Colorado State University with a concentration in Tourism and an emphasis on sustainable travel. Although her heart remains in the Rocky Mountains and the Southwest’s canyon country, she enjoys exploring trails in and around Washington, D.C.Email: AKetchmark@AmericanHiking.org
  Ivan Levin, Trail Programs Manager
In 2004, Ivan joined American Hiking and manages the Alliance of Hiking Organizations, National Trails Day, and National Trails Fund. Ivan earned a BS in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism from Radford University with a concentration in outdoor recreation and a minor in Appalachian Studies. Additionally, Ivan received a MS in Park and Recreation Resource Management from Frostburg State University in 2007. In Spring 2008, Ivan became an Adjunct Faculty member of George Mason University's Recreation, Health, and Tourism department.   Seth Levy, Western Public Lands Initiative
Seth joined American Hiking in 2005, to protect trails on Bureau of Land Management lands and now manages the Western Public Lands Initiative. He graduated The College of Wooster with a BA in Philosophy, concentrating in Environmental Law. His employment history includes experience in the federal government, conservation organizations and outdoor retail. Seth enjoys backpacking, having completed the Long Trail and more than half of the Appalachian Trail.Email: SLevy@AmericanHiking.org
  Gregory A. Miller, Ph.D., President
Greg has more than 20 years of experience in conservation and natural resources program development and a track record of public-private partnerships, fund raising and non-profit management. Before joining American Hiking Society as President in 2005, Greg served as Executive Vice President at a global environmental consulting firm, EnDyna, Inc. For more than 15 years, as Division Vice President at The Nature Conservancy, he headed development of the South America conservation portfolio.Email: GMiller@AmericanHiking.org
  Celina Montorfano, Vice President for Programs
Celina came to American Hiking in 1999, initially focusing on policy, and in 2005, became Vice President. She holds a BS from Cornell and an MPA from Indiana University. Her background combines public policy and conservation, and she has worked in the government and nonprofit sectors. Celina was also in the Peace Corps and is a NOLS graduate.   Peter Olsen, Director of Membership
Peter joined American Hiking in 2004 to focus on membership outreach and growth as well as development initiatives, including planned giving. Peter, formerly a Russian linguist with the U.S. Air Force, received his BA in Business from the University of Maryland. He is also the former Executive Director of One Less Car, a Maryland bicycle and pedestrian advocacy nonprofit, on whose board he now serves.Email: POlsen@AmericanHiking.org
  Ed Talone, Manager and Trail Information Specialist
Ed joined the staff in 2001 and is American Hiking’s Office Manager as well as “trails information specialist” and hiking historian. In addition, Ed has contributed more than 50 articles for American Hiker magazine and has also provided content for several trail guidebooks. Ed earned a BS in Accounting from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Ed is an accomplished backpacker with over 40,000 miles to his credit.Email: ETalone@AmericanHiking.org
  Bobbi Sankey, Communications Manager
Bobbi joined American Hiking in November 2007. She is responsible for coordinating the organization’s communications, media and outreach efforts and is editor-in-chief of American Hiker magazine. A Minnesota native, Bobbi moved to the D.C. area from Colorado, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in geography and professional writing and was a writer for the Colorado Springs Gazette. An avid hiker, Bobbi has explored Alaska, Guatemala and Mexico and loves spending time in the mountains.Email: BSankey@AmericanHiking.org

  Randy Rasmussen, Recreation Policy Specialist
Randy is a resource to conservation and recreation interests engaged in federal agency land use/travel planning processes throughout the Pacific Northwest with the goal of protecting nonmotorized trails and areas, the hiking experience, and related wildlands and wildlife. He also works with organizers in other key regions to elevate the voice of traditional trail users throughout the West.
